Prunus subhirtella 'Pendula'
Higan's Weeping Cherry - Prunus pendula is a very desirable ornamental weeping cherry tree that is native to Japan. It is a cultivar that typically grows 15-20 feet tall with a pronounced weeping form and light pink to rose-pink flowers. The flowers bloom in 2 to 5-flowered umbels in late winter to early spring before the leaves emerge. Flowers are followed by rounded pea-sized fruits (to 1/3inch diameter) that attract birds.
