We grow our specimens as single trunk that quickly develop into multi-trunk trees with many lower branches growing upwards. They display beautiful Camellia-like white flowers (to 2.5″ diameter) with showy orange-yellow anthers appear in June through early August..
It is generally a very hardy tree with elliptic, lightly furrowed dark green foliage (to 3″ long) that turn amazing shades of reddish-orange and burgundy in autumn. They like a well drained organic foundation and can grow quite vigorously in bright shaded locations, especially when sheltered from the direct hot afternoon sun.
They have exfoliating, reddish-brown bark providing good winter color and interest. USDA zones 5-9 This particular specimen is highly recommended!
